Help us use the Parole System to empower people to get out and stay out of prison
Our Mission is to Empower People to Make their Best Case for Parole and Develop Strong Reentry Plans. We do this by making available information about, materials for and support with parole hearing preparation and reentry planning in Maryland.
The Challenge
Until the inception of PREPARE, most people in Maryland went to their parole hearings unprepared to make their best case for early release. This represents a missed opportunity for those individuals, for their families, for their communities and for society.
Our Approach
We are working towards providing direct parole and reentry advocacy throughout Maryland. We are established in one prison and beginning the role out in a second prison. We have stocked our self-help materials throughout the Maryland prison libraries and we are providing workshops for families to assist loved ones with parole and reentry preparation.
