It’s an amazing experience to be part of the PREPARE team. I first heard of PREPARE through co-founder Elizabeth Finne, back in 2020 when she and Maryjoel Davis were transitioning from Second Chance for Women. I was instantly interested and wanted to be involved, but the timing was tough as we were moving out of state. In 2024, we moved back to Maryland and in 2025, I joined PREPARE as a volunteer. I am now a parole advocate for women at MCIW. My background in biological science research is a far cry from parole advocacy, but I have an amazing mentor in our Director of Parole, Jacqueline Ahn. I love working with the PREPARE team and the challenge of learning this new area. Most of all, it is immensely rewarding to meet the clients and work with them to detail their accomplishments and goals. It’s definitely a privilege to join them for this part of their journey.
