A native of central New York, a graduate of the University of Vermont and Fordham
University School of Law, Dawna is old enough to have had several careers. These
include working in an automobile factory, as a lawyer in private practice, as a Maryland
Assistant Attorney General, as an assistant dean and faculty member at the University
of Maryland School of Law, and as the director of a law clinic that provides free legal
advice to low-income people. The proud mom of two adult sons, she currently works to
improve opportunities for formerly incarcerated people.
