Marie Carter is a retired clinical social worker who worked in the Maryland Division of Correction for 33 years. She was the regional supervisor for social work services for incarcerated individuals on the Eastern Shore. These services included cognitive behavioral and social skills groups, individualized treatment and release planning.

As volunteers, she and Anita Wiest now provide monthly PREPARE seminars on the three compounds of Eastern Correctional Institution (Maryland’s largest prison).

Along with Warren, her husband of 51 years, Marie also volunteers with an agency in Salisbury called H.O.P.E. that feeds and provides a variety of services for income-insecure individuals in the community.

Family activities keep her busy with a large extended family including seven grandchildren. Her hobbies include writing, gardening and studying nature.
